A Triplet Podcast For You To Listen To

For those not familiar with it, I have a podcast I do on a weekly basis, Pathetic Plea For Attention. This week, it's very triplet intensive and it seems for those of you interested in our brood, you may find this show kinda entertaining. You can listen to it here. If you like the show, check out my other blog which you can get to with the link on the left side of this page.

Our New "Mom-Mobile"

Today, Bob & I purchased our very own child transport machine. I think Bob's greatest worry (after how we'll pay for three kids worth of diapers) was a vehicle we could use to bring the whole family home in. Now, we have a behemoth of a vehicle with the tragically low gas mileage to go along with it. Take that Al Gore. We both are happy that Bob has a car again (since we sold my beloved jeep to his sister a couple of weeks ago), and I am ecstatic that it's not a van of any sort having spent the majority of my childhood riding in one of my parents' many vans. Now we just have to get some car seats for our manly trio to ride around in.

Two and a Question Mark

Today was our first appointment with the multiples doctor. After spending a lot of time pushing on my belly and measuring things, he asked if we wanted to know the sexes. Just as we suspected, he was only 100% sure about two of them and the third one he was pretty sure. So, our verdict was...

Two Boys and Probably Another Boy! Three of a Kind!

We got video of the sonogram, so if you are good at reading these things, here they are.

Baby A

Baby B

Baby C

Now this is where the Doc shows us his work so to speak and points out that he definately see's 2 boys and probably a 3rd. Are you following along at home kids?

You Have One Day To Get Your Guesses In

If you want to get in to the game where you guess the birth stats on our triplets, you have until Thursday afternoon to do so. Tomorrow is the day we could find out the sex of the trio, so a big part of the guessing game will be revealed tomorrow evening.

I think we may lock the game after we find out if they are boys or girls.

D'oh!

So, this weekend my future brother in law came to the house for a bit with my sister and he helped me get crib #1 up the stairs into our game room. That evening Angela and I put together crib #2 in the game room as well. This one took just under 45 minutes to put together. We cut almost 2 hours off our time, who knew?

Because it went so well, we decided to go ahead and put crib #3 together but before we did that, we had to clear out what would be the nursery. After we got that done we began to move a crib into the room. It didn't take long to figure out this wasn't going to work because the angle of the door and the stairwell weren't playing nice together.

But before we panicked we decided you know, let's just put it in the room that is adjoined to this one by a bathroom, it has a straight shot from the game room, no angles, we'll be golden.

Uhm, no we aren't.

They don't fit into that room either.

We figure out that if we remove the door off the room we can get the cribs in there but decide to keep them in the game room and then when it's time to move all 3 cribs into rooms, we'll deal with the door removal at that point. We figure that's quite a ways down the road.

You have to give us some credit because at least we figured out that crib #3 will be put together in the nursery. As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to go do that now.

Cribs in da House!

Last week, the cribs we wanted were on sale, and Bob's parents generously gave us all three cribs and the matresses. On Thursday, six huge boxes arrived at our house. This was really the first true sign that our children are going to change our whole world. Those giant boxes just sitting there in the foyer kind of woke us up to the fact that our house which is in no way, shape, or form reflective of the upcoming arrival of our kids, was about to drastically change forever. Bob hauled all but one of the boxes upstairs. I asked him to leave one crib downstairs as we had selected them because they should be easily moveable and can fit through doorways. We are planning on keeping the kids downstairs while they are little all in one crib, so I wanted to make sure said crib could fit up the stairs easily without having to take it apart before the babies came rather than after. Last night, I had a long meeting after work, and Bob took the opportunity to surprise me with a completed crib. I called the house a couple of times, and when I asked him what he was doing his response was always "putzing around the house." Such cryptic responses are not typical of my dear husband, and my suspicious antennae were out in full force. "You're putting together a crib, aren't you?" I exclaimed. The response was a decidedly unenthusiastic, "just come home." As I traipsed through the door, I saw my husband elbow deep in crib parts and couldn't help but be impressed. Bob is not the kind of guy who enjoys putting furniture together, and that he would tackle this project on his own as a surprise to me was so sweet. We finished putting the crib together after consulting the directions several times, and it just looks so beautiful sitting proudly in the living room. This weekend, we'll move the crib upstairs and clear all of the stuff that is in the "nursery" out. I am still wondering how all three cribs are going to fit in that room, but I'm sure it'll all come together at some point (the kids may be out of the house by that time, but you've got to give it a shot, right?).

We Put Together a Crib Last Night!

1 Down, 2 to Go!

Today begins week 15 of the pregnancy odyssey. The only real baby purchasing that has been done are the 3 cribs that my parents bought us, they arrived last week. Angela typically is the one who puts together furniture. I hate doing it because invariably, I will screw it up. She likes doing it, so we had decided she'd do it and I'd assist.

She has been very tired lately and we just hadn't gotten around to putting one together. Yesterday she had to work late and had been having a tough day. I figured, I'd try to cheer her up and have a crib put together for her when she got home. Well, she got home a little before I expected her to and of course I had screwed up a step (or two), so when she walked in the crib wasn't ready. She did a good job of faking excitement although I'm pretty sure her thought was, great, I had a long day and I come home to this fool and a messed up crib.

We re-did the two errors I had made and about 30 minutes later the crib was built as you see above. I think it took a total of 2 1/2 hours. My goal is to cut that time by at least 5 minutes for each crib. I have a hunch if I do it myself I'll actually add time to the total but I'll give it my best.

I Felt a Kick!

Well, it wasn't quite as dramatic as that picture but last night as we slept, Angela was pushed up against my side and I felt something odd. I woke up instantly. It was about 3:30 AM. I thought, nah, it couldn't be, then there was another one. It wasn't very hard at all, Angela was still sleeping. I felt 2 or 3 more than Angela shifted and I didn't feel it anymore. I woke her up to tell her about it but we didn't feel it anymore. We are only at week 14 1/2 and Angela says we are about 2 or 3 weeks early from when they say you should feel the baby's moving but I'm telling you I felt a baby. It was really cool.

I'm not sure I'll think it's too cool if the little guys or girls continue to wake me up for the next 4 months but last night it was pretty freakin cool.

14 Week Appointment

Today, Bob and I had our 14 week appointment. Finally, I got the cold jelly on the belly treatment rather than the more internal route. All three babies are looking great and have wonderful heartbeats.

Baby A was the first baby we saw, and he/she shocked me as he/she actually looks like a real human being now rather than an indistinguishable blob. Although, in this picture, he/she looks like all blob and no baby.

Baby B was predictably friendly and waved at us as we watched him/her and listened to the heartbeat (this was the same baby that gave Bob jazz hands last time). Even the doctor commented on how cool it was that the baby waved at us. I think that must be a girl to be such a great communicator at an early age. ;) Although, he/she is apparently camera shy and turned his/her back for the picture.

Baby C was harder to see as he/she is sort of hidden behind Baby B, but we got the best multi-sided view of him/her as the doctor searched around for a good picture. This was the first baby we got to see such a defined view of the spine.

The doctor also labeled where each of the babies are hanging out in my uterus so that when they start kicking me, I'll know who the culprit is. Some time this month, we will meet with the multiples doctor and probably be able to find out the sexes of the babies, which is pretty cool, and we'll finally be able to get down to serious business when it comes to finding the perfect names for our three wonderful children.
